Does the thought of taking a step back and giving your T1D kiddo more independence terrify you?

Discover the tips, techniques, and support system you need to feel calm and confident in trusting your T1D kiddo to take care of themselves (without nagging, begging, or bribing).

“We thought we had it all figured out…”

I hear this ALL the time. Kiddo was diagnosed at 22 months, 12—even 17 years old. You had a good system, aka Mom and Dad are doing everything. All the dosing, overnight finger pricks, all the sensor changes, you name it – Mom or Dad was in charge.

Then suddenly your child wants to do it on their own, or maybe they want to go on a sleepover and you won’t be there to oversee and help…

It's all a bit daunting.

I get it. I’m a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and T1D since kindergarten (about me).

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world and with your child’s diabetes ALWAYS on your mind, the thought of backing off to let them step up, is scary.

Maybe you wonder, “How do I know I’m doing a good job? How do I know they’re ready?”

As a diabetes educator and social worker, I have met thousands of families in your shoes. The common goal is always something along the lines of “I want them to do it on their own, but also I don’t want to be the nag.”

Not only is this goal possible, but with the right system in place, you will have the tools to support your kiddo’s growing independence and the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’re doing what’s best for your family!

  • "so very validating and reassuring"

  • "[Anna's] perspective has helped me to understand my daughter a little better and has also helped me guide her, support her through her journey with T1D."

  • "It was good to connect with other mothers who understand what I am going through."

What Is The Parenting For Independence Program?

Intentionally designed to fill the gap for caregivers who can't afford or don't want to enroll in 1:1 or group coaching, Parenting for Independence is a weekly support program that is customized to give you relevant, real-world tips and tricks based on your child’s current age and the stage of your family’s unique journey with diabetes.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Exclusive access to content written by a healthcare professional with expert advice on how to parent a child with diabetes toward independence.

  • Tips on managing your own burnout.

  • Techniques for reducing caregiver anxiety.

  • Strategies for how to talk to friends and parents of your child’s friends.

  • Important information on puberty.

  • and so much more!

What’s even COOLER is that you have the opportunity to register for what I’m calling “First Fridays” - every month, the first 10 people to register, get one hour of free “office hours,” a discussion, and a safe space to talk through your diabetes questions and challenges with people understand what you’re going through. Sometimes we’ll have guest speakers, and other times it will be more intimate, just me and the first ten people to register.

To register for the FIRST of all FIRST FRIDAYS on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 12pm EST, you must be available to participate live -- these are precious, vulnerable, conversations and won’t be recorded. When registering, please choose only one meeting to attend. This gives others a chance to participate in this invaluable opportunity.

Currently being offered for parents of kiddos ages 8-11. Want to get on the list for the next age group (0-7) set to launch this summer?

Hi, I'm Anna!

A Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and T1D since kindergarten.

I’ve worked with caregivers just like you, created nationally recognized programs for youth and their families, and spoken at dozens of diabetes conferences worldwide, but more importantly, I’ve LIVED through what your child is experiencing.

As a pre-teen, I struggled to feel included and craved that sense of autonomy. It was only after attending a diabetes camp that I began to understand the importance of having a supportive community of peers, mentors, and others who just “get it.” It’s what inspired my passion for empowering families like yours, and why I provide 1:1 coaching and group programs

But the reality is that this level of access to professional help IS an investment.

I want to make programs that are accessible to everyone, regardless of financial barriers.

That’s why I’ve created Parenting for Independence, the bite-sized email program you need for the long road ahead!
